it's not just in service academies but it's just a part of American culture. i grew up in American schools overseas in Southeast Asia and my teachers were pretty all diehard fans of "American sports"

This has not much to do with discipline. This is a spirit mission preceding a football game. It is part of the culture at the service academies. It is not easy to understand it unless you've spent some time at one of the service academies in the US. I wouldn't go as far as saying that Turkish academies are the best, but you certainly have a large military...
