  • Would you know what would cause resistance in the Starter Rope?? I have a Poulan "Wild Thing" chainsaw. It worked great when I first purchased it about 3-4yrs ago. But it's not something I use often. I sprayed the coil with WD40. Rewound the rope so it's snug. When I pull it to start the saw, it's like something is pulling against me. Any ideas and how can I fix it? Thanks

  • @BrushWrks make sure the coil isn't rubbing on the flywheel

  • @BrushWrks can u post a vid? hard to say without seeing it? in the meantime u can take the muffler off and look at the rings to see their condition through the exhaust port

  • I have a craftsman 3.3 cubic inch chainsaw and something is causing the rope not to pull or it wont pull smoothly to start the chainsaw (resistance). Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what this could be? it is like something is pulling agianst the rope when I try to pull.

  • @antoniobrown216 u might need new parts in the recoil assembly like the plastic rotor piece

  • Hay I have a poulan farmhand 2500 that I got for free. Do you know if these saws came with bumper spikes? A new spike is only 5.00 so I'll just order one if need be. I can see the front of the saw wearing away with out it.

  • @workensmart usually they didn't come with bumper spikes

  • how many ccs is the 2150? and what would happen if i were to place a 24 to 30in bar and chain on it?

  • Great instructional video. Much appreciated. I really like the rope idea used as a piston stop.

  • Good, informative video. Thanks.

  • Thanks! I was having a bear of a time getting my saw back together. Watched until you mentioned "chain brake" @ 24 seconds and knew EXACTLY what my problem was. Disengaged the brake and it all went back together easy as you please. 1000 thanks!

  • @donyboy73 I'm working for the next couple days. I'll see what I can do. Otherwise the best written description I can give is when trying to start the chainsaw, the starter rope is real hard to pull. Almost like it's pulling against me and the cord retracts real slow.

But when I remove the spark plug, the starter rope moves freely with no resistance at all and snaps back into place.

  • @donyboy73 I have reason to believe it's a compression issue. When I try to start the chainsaw with the SparkPlug IN, there's a lot of resistance. When I remove the SparkPlug, the starter cord moves freely with NO resistance.

Is this a Piston issue inside the cylinder or is it a carburetor issue? I'm thinking something inside the cylinder. How do I fix this problem? Do I have to replace the whole cylinder head, piston, etc?

    Thanks
