[SimplyBhangra.com] Drega - Hottest Goan In The Hood

Toronto rapper Drega recently went to India to shoot "the most epic youtube of all time" as he was tired of rappers shooting grainy cell phone captures from their building's parking lot. The result was a 2 minute short showcasing India's very different environments from Mumbai and New Delhi's bustling cities to Goa's majestic beaches to the sprawling deserts in Jaisalmer.

"I know people are going to say that I should have filmed little kids taking a shit in the gutter with a malnurtured cow taking a piss beside them..and yeah I did see that..but I couldn't pull my camera out at those places because it would have been exploitive and besides I was too busy giving them money," says Drega in regards to the video.

The song which borrows the beat from Red Cafe's "Hottest In The Hood" was inspired by flipping the idea of "low budget hood videos" typically shot in American 'hoods and shooting a "hood" video in a developing country such as India. "I know I'm tired of seeing these typical 'hood videos and wanted to see something completely foreign and out-of-this-world," says Drega.
