We had to get a glimpse at the GMs new Chevy Volt, the electric car that can create its own electricity. Plug the Volt in, let it charge overnight, and its said to run on a pure electric charge for up to 40 miles. The Volt also features an OnStar mobile app that lets you use a smartphone to access the vehicles current electric range, fuel efficiency and also manage the charging functions.

  • @starview1 it was rated at 1000 miles with the gas motor (generator) kicking in...

  • infin1ty yes,the Chevy Volt is always powered off the Batteries, when the charge gets low the small gas motor recharges on the fly so you have a driving range I suppose of 500 plus miles, if driven less than 40 miles you'd never use gas just plug it in to charge

  • yeah

  • @infin1ty yes

  • 40 Miles on an overnight charge? What happens when I've driven those 40 miles, does gas kick in?

  • Now that's shocking !
