Majorites never fully succeed in oppressing minorites - not indefinitely, that is. Anyone who has studied history will know this.

The fight is not over.

Victory is still on the horizon.

Those who voted to ban gay marriage better prepare themselves for disappointment.

  • Excuse me for cursing but: FUCK PROP 8!!!! VOTE NO! I AM!! I just got off of their site reading about why we should vote "yes" and its just all a bunch of bullshit. I'm tired of the shit in this country. Why can't some people just learn to accept people for who they are? I'm fuming right now - I'm just SOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed off.

You're right: people ARE weird. Pssh, those black ppl voted 'yes'? Shit, that's dumb. There was a time when THEY weren't accepted into society. Good vid.

  • WOW, I love your passion here.

    RIGHT ON!

Yeah, pretty wild that they'd link this video to theirs, but whatever, LOL.

    Thanks for commenting.

I'm actually shutting comments off now because it's just time to vote and get it over with.

    :-)

  • Oh please! The Southern Manifesto was a bunch of racist bigots refusing to go along with desegregation. IF you live in the south and really believe that it was just some simple partisan battle, you're an idiot.

    Go fuck yourself.

  • 1. I'm a woman. 2. Same-sex couples have faith communities willing to perform marriage ceremonies for them. And there have always been other churches who do not want to marry same-sex couples. Prop 8 is not about that. Prop 8 is about CIVIL marriage. Something tells me that if every same sex couple bypassed churches and went straight to their local civil authority to obtain a marriage license you would still oppose gay marriage. So don't pretend that religious freedom is the issue here. Please.

  • why do people only fight discrimination when it affects them? you tell me, mr "black queer." i don't see you jumping at the helm of religious freedoms. and to say that protection of religious freedom is a non-issue when it comes to prop 8 is either a bold faced lie or naivete.

  • i'll bet dollars to donuts that you didn't know the southern manifesto was legistlation proposed by the democratic party and opposed by republicans. so perhaps you can forgive us if we don't have the same familiarity with your bills as you do.

  • I am both Black and queer - yes folks, it's possible - and I also happen to be a law student with a BA in sociology and sexuality studies. Both race- and sexuality-based discrimination are civil rights issues. Why is it that the great majority of people can only bother to fight discrimination when it affects them? Has history taught us nothing?!

  • BTW GJ with the vid.*****

  • TOTALLY obvious that this whole issue is nonsense. If prop 8 passes, whats next...will i not be able to marry someone who happens to be an atheist and im a catholic?? Where do we draw the line from just infringing rights and "protecting" marriage.

  • I'd bet dollars to donuts that most of the people supporting this "Yes on 8" tripe have no idea what the Southern Manifesto was.
