For his debut as a recording artist (in Bristol Tennessee) Jimmie Rodgers played "Sleep Baby Sleep" a lullaby that was a hit as far back as 1869.
When early 78rpm records were being made, the original master was cut in wax. "Waxing" became a generic term for "recording."

  • Do you know Desert Silver Blue? My grandma used to sing that one. Campfire singing started off pretty raucously with kid requests and faster songs. Then it would slow down with songs like, Dona Nobis Pacem, Peace I ask of Thee Oh River, and my favorite, Desert Silver Blue. I miss that a bunch and your lull-a-bye made me think of those times.

  • Sorry, don't know it...

  • Hello

    Lew...

"Waxing Nostalgic" as I listen to your You Tube production of a song I first heard on one of Pop's 78 rpms (sadly,I no longer have it):(

However...all is not lost, for now I have your straightforward and on the mark interpretation to enjoy... right here,at my disposal.

    In Deepest Gratitude,

    Stewball
