It was never a question of if I would be sent to Riyadh but when. So here I was with just 24hrs to absorb the incredible cultural contrasts this unique city has to offer the visitor. I'm careful here not to use the word tourist here as, well, this isn't a tourist destination. That's not to say of course, that you cannot be a tourist. I certainly was. With a huge thank you to my kind and patient host Hassan (camera man, driver & guide) who was instrumental in allowing me to make the most of every minute of my 1st ever visit to the Saudi capital. So taken was I by this intriguing city, I cannot wait for my next visit. I will certainly be finishing my grand tour of the magnificent National Museum of Saudi Arabia. Oh and not forgetting the British made Brompton folding bike making its Riyadh debut and yet again helping to break down cultural and racial barriers world-wide. Here a group of Arabic children are entertained by my constant travel companion and ice-breaker with the bike proving once again that kids will be kids the world over. Arabic hospitality remains as warm as ever here. Kind of goes with the climate!
