It's probably true that the global stockpile is more than enough to wipe out humanity, but the entire life? 1500 over? Eradicating all life with a mere 10^17J of energy would be quite difficult. Sure the 2004 tsunami didn't have the fiery after-effects of a nuclear blast, but still it killed a mere 0.0035% of total human population and a neglible amount of other life with the same energy as from the blasts themselves required for a one global sterlization according to that "1500".
