Its not even that. Most throw the rest away while they are still alive. Imagine for a moment that someone comes along and cut off your arms and legs, then left you to bleed out. Its just like that, but in this case they are doing it on a grand scale. It is a crime against our world, and shows just how cruel of a species we humans truly are. You only hear about Chickens and Cows on the news. They get a quick death, while sharks get a truly terrible slow and painful death. It is despicable.

That wouldn't help, seeing as sharks only have small litters and take many years too reach maturity, it's not realistic too farm them.

Because it's a stupid, primitive, sick and outdated practice, that's why. Also centuries ago there wasn't one billion chinese eat sharks, they also didn't have the boats they had now. Sure they'd wipe local populations out, but shark species would survive as a whole. I understand people where ignorant and didn't know any better, and i know they thought sharks didn't feel anything. But the reality is this is the 21st century now, and people should know better.
