A quick review of Battlefield Bad Company 2 for PC. Written Review:

Until a few days ago, I had never played a Battlefield game. I just played Call of Duty and assumed that Battlefield was much the same, and never really tried it out. I was never really satisfied with Call of Duty, so at my latest trip to Best Buy a few days ago I decided to pick up a Battlefield alternative to Black Ops for my new gaming PC. Battlefield Bad Company 2 ended up being the best $20 I have ever spent on a video game to this day.

Even without the multiplayer, the storyline alone covers the minor $20 set back. It starts out in World War II, 20 minutes before the Atomic Bomb would be dropped on Japan to end World War II. A group of eight soldiers, called Operation Aurora are sent in to extract a Japanese scientist, who helped design the 'Black Weapon'. All of the soldiers of Operation Aurora died that day, though not from the nuke (which was never dropped) but from a huge wave caused by the Black Weapon. As a member of 'Bad Company', you have to track down the weapon, and stop the Russians from using it in an attempt to conquer the United States, and ultimately, the world.

The gameplay is great, and seems a lot more realistic than the Call of Duty franchise. You will have to kill hoards of enemies, drive an assortment of vehicles, and even go skydiving to reach your objective. Though you can hardly notice it at first, you soon realize that your team mates' AI scripting is terrible. I pushed one of my team mates in front of an enemy and neither one of them died. My team mate had horrible aim and didn't hit the enemy once, and the enemy couldn't kill my team mate because he is invincible. As I progressed through the game the AI seemed to get worse and worse, but maybe it is meant to add more difficulty to the game. Overall, the gameplay is action-packed and a blast to play through, even with retarded team mates.

The multiplayer is the icing on the cake. There are huge maps to play on, complete with vehicles and destructible environments. And to complement that, servers support up to 32 players in a single game. A multiplayer game can easily turn into an all-out war, which makes Call of Duty's multiplayer seem like complete and utter crap. My only gripe about Bad Company 2's multiplayer is that you can only host a server by paying one of the compatible server hosting companies monthly, but then again, you cannot host a server in MW2 or Black Ops either.

Overall, Battlefield Bad Company 2 has become one of my favorite game franchises and I just can't wait for Battlefield 3 to come out later this year. I give Battlefield Bad Company 2 a perfect 10/10.

PS : Call of Duty - Black Ops costs $60, whereas Battlefield Bad Company 2 (a better game in my opinion) costs only $20. Do the math.
