Sri Lanka general's legal battles

From army chief and war hero, to presidential candidate, to "the accused".

Sarath Fonseka has appeared before a military tribunal in Sri Lanka, charged with engaging in politics while in uniform and violating military procurement procedures.

But his supporters say the charges are politically motivated and an attempt to prevent him from standing in next month's parliamentary polls.
