The Open Diapason March by Louis Meyer, organ duet written in 1879, was played by Bill Rainey, organist/choirmaster at St Peter's Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC, and John Apple, AGO chapter historian and organist at Epworth United Methodist Church, Concord, NC. Concert on the 100th anniversary of the II/11 M P Möller, Opus 1046 (1910) at Chalmers Memorial ARP, now owned by Grace Covenant Church. It has a few problems, but it is still playing!

  • I've made an executive decision! THIS will be my wedding march!

  • This is the first time I have ever heard the duet version of this. I play the solo version quite a lot. As a "guest organist by choice" I use it as a postlude regularly on lots of different organs. It does well on a nice 7-stop Moller tracker from 1915 (yes a tracker that late) that's near here, in pristine condition in its original location.

  • @moller11739 It's a nice organ; not the greatest acoustics, but oh well. I was just there for an AGO recital and they played this piece.

  • Wow! When did you guys do this? I spent a few hours there one day last year photographing it and wondered how/if it would play.

  • What a nostalgic and historic sound! Thanks Bill and John.
