In 2007 global advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi agreed to create a national awareness campaign pro-bono to promote Neighbour Day, Australia's annual celebration of community.

Neighbour Day is held on the final Sunday in March every year.

It was broadcast in Australia in 2008 and 2009 without charge on the Nine, Ten, SBS, Prime, WIN, NBN, Macquarie Southern Cross, Imparja, Foxtel and Austar networks as well as inflight on the Qantas On-Q channel plus public broadcasting channels ABC One and ABC Two.

Everyone who worked on it, including the actors and award-winning director, willingly gave their creativity, time and resources - without charge - to turn a concept into reality.

With extensive air-time allocated nationally this tvc is a million-dollar pro-bono campaign.

Neighbour Day encourages us all to have better relationships with the people next door and across the street no matter where we live.

It was founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2003 by Andrew Heslop - a former National Communications Manager for Australian Red Cross and Project Manager for British Red Cross - after the remains of 75 year old Elsie Brown were discovered in her McKinnon home.

Mrs Brown had died in 2001 and had been forgotten by neighbours, friends and family until Victoria Police broke in to her home.

Neighbour Day - the community you want starts at your front doorâ„¢
