Wooden Shjips are a quartet from San Francisco, influenced by the experimentalism of psychedelia, classical minimalism, and garage rock excess. "Contact" is a cover of a Serge Gainsbourg classic, made famous by Brigitte Bardot. The update with Wooden Shjips thousand yard psych-cosmos stare, transposing the original's freakbeat tendencies with a Krautrock bassline and a transcendental wander that'll put you in the zone. The eye candy background is 1967's The Trip starring Peter Fonda.
