Young people have been hardest hit by the economic crisis as they often lack the experience and skills to be competitive. Today one in five young Europeans cannot find a job. However the Youth@Work campaign aims at showing that, thanks to their fresh take on the world, young people often have innovative ideas and energy.
In 2010, the youth unemployment rate in Latvia was 34 % - one of the highest rates in the EU. After losing her job two years ago, Zane Lase-Lasmane, 27, decided to create her own company called Artbag. Subsequently she received financial support from the European Social Fund and national employment services. Today, thanks to a lot of effort and a bit of help she's the proud owner of a company that is growing bigger by the day.
