  • This video is entertaining and educational. Great for anyone considering an actuarial career.

  • @ilovebees3 I must ask how many actuaries you know? Why are these insurance companies bloodsuckers? What about the data showing that the field of actuarial science is a growing field boasting more then a 20% increase in 2008 alone? Maybe the actuaries that you know suck at their jobs and can't get jobs. Just because a doctor makes it through medical school doesn't mean hes a good doctor or will be able to hold a job. It is a highly skilled field that requires out side of the box thinking.

  • @jrobuck81 The problem with the actuarial profession is the false way in which the profession is promoted. It's always championed as a "high paying career" with "little stress" and "great job security" etc etc, but the main drag is that the work is just godawfully boring AND there is practically NO MATH used on the job. I repeat, there is practically NO MATH used on the job! It's all about accounting knowledge and corporate asskissing abilities. I speak from over 10 years of direct experience.

  • @jrobuck81 Also growth is at the entry level, and these new entrents do not know the scoop, but will soon learn to their dismay ! Oh - one more thing millions of very qualified people in all professions are unemployed. Slow economy, excess labor capacity. jobs shipped over seas - need I go on. Outside the box - for most actuaries it means supporting their employers position (money money and more money)

  • @jrobuck81 I know many many actuaries. Fellows to, who are good honest actuaries and mostly employed. Insurance companies want to max profits on the backs of its employees, the public and the publics health. Hence the sucking. Actuarial was growing because finance field was growing, I doubt it still is in 2011-2012.

  • @rgyk06 Speak to actuaries who have been around at least 12 years and try to get the truth out of them. See if they agree with what I say. People are often lured into the profession when young, often with good paychecks, and may even like it initially, but then the powers that be will let them know there place sooner or later.

  • @ilovebees3 Before you go about dissing a profession, maybe you should tell people what qualifications you have to be able to make such claims. It is really fucking annoying when people like you just say "it sucks" and we don't know if you have ever actually worked as an actuary before.

  • this is all very conceptual and nice and all ... but the math courses to be an actuary are insane >_>

  • and i think mathematics are the best form of make the difference between the real students that make this world more productive and cientific

  • i will be an actuary here in mexico . so i like this video

  • @ilovebees3 hey fuck you
