Christian Baptism is a declaration of faith and new life. Being Baptized or immersed in water is a sign of becoming "Born Again". Many of these Christians had been following Jesus for some time, but had chosen to be publically baptized this day, after the Leadership Training Time.

  • @shawnjm79: Hey Shaw, you are absolutely right. A scripture that verifies what you just said and you probably seen it before:

Mark 16:16: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Believe comes from the greek word peitho, one if its' meanings is to OBEY. There's an action associated with obedience. And infant in no wise can Believe the gospel let alone OBEY it. So why do people baptize infants? Not once in the NT did you ever see that happen.

  • Personally I do not believe a baptism is valid if the party is unable to understand. Their is a reason John did not baptize infants or young children. They where too young to understand and decide weather or not to accept the call.

  • Jesus did not come from a religion with sacraments. Not one of his followers where either. Thus why do you feel sacraments are necessary? And who are you to say who God bestows Grace upon? And they are not Sects. By the way, the Catholics 'baptize' infants. How can a person be baptized if they do not even know who God is? Please do some homework and rethink your view point.

  • Dear Coolbigal:

This is not correct, a Catholic must accept the teachings of the Church. And the Church teaches that while some Baptisms can be regarded as valid if performed correctly (Orthodox, Anglican, Presbyterian), others are not valid (Evangelical, JW's, Mormon) for several reasons. These sects posess no sacraments and no grace, their members being in the same situation of the infidels (non Christians.)
