Expositing the book of Jude, CJ Mahaney teaches to preach the gospel to yourself daily. He mentions Pastor Milton Vincent (Riverside, CA) and his book "A Gospel Primer for Christians".
@baprosser I admit that I have not heard the whole message, just this excerpt, and try to not be too nit-picky, having said that though, I believe in absolute accuracy in handling the Texts of Scripture. I respect C.J., love and pray for him often, so I am not a hater, I just want to be faithful in preaching and teaching the Word of God.
Interesting take on this passage. I agree with what he is saying in principle, but I fail to find it in this verse. The verses say, "20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. (Jud 1:20-21 ESV).
The imperative in this passage is to keep yourself in the love of God by building up your faith by praying in the Holy Spirit.
