A pair of Gabb's Checkerspot butterflies (Chlosyne gabbii) graciously pose for a few minutes of close-up footage. Earlier in the morning, I watched this lonely male guarding his territory, hoping for a newly emerged female to happen through his domain. An hour later as I re-passed the same location, I found that his luck had changed and he'd finally found a girlfriend! :-)
Hmmmm there's a thought - for future tats! :-)
