In this video we're showing how easy it is to make a site built sill pan flashing for your windows with DuPont Flexwrap. Every window you poke in your weather barrier needs to be treated for the eventual leaks that can/will occur. By making a sill pan flashing for all our windows we're ensuring that when a window leaks it leaks to the outside of the assembly. Our modern/tight houses just don't have the ability to take on water and dry out like homes built 40+ years ago did. Sill pans for doors & windows are a MUST for homes built in Austin Texas. -Matt Risinger

  • @LinXiaoChaun Good observations! Yes sloping the sill is best. In this case we used a back dam with backer rod and caulk. I've taken apart windows that were set 5 years ago with DuPont Flexwrap and they still look pristine. This is a premium product and it's made to last. Matt Risinger

  • Two observations:

    * It is not clear from the video that the "sill pan" is sloped to the outside, as is proper. Also, unlike a rigid pan flashing, this "sill pan" fails to turn up at the inside edge.

    * It would be interesting to see what the stretched corner of the Flexwrap "sill" looks like after some time has passed. Does it creep? Does it crack?
