Because no one is pressing buttons when the phone is ringing. press a button, it creates a spark... period. Even if only small....

@Cherelleyy it's is called snopes - it is the dictionary of urban legends. just have to google "snopes mobile phone gas" or "Facts About Cell Phones and Fires at Gas Stations" ... and you will see what I mean about an urban legend

@Kelly2357 where exactly did you get your facts from.... lol

except getting your cell phone out of your pocket can create static electricity so it is still true that you should not use cell phones. A spark can possibly be created by the cell phone being dropped. So while it is true cell phone itself doesn't cause a problem using one potentially can.

It really is an urban legend!
It has been spread around so much that if has become almost true legend.
Not a single mobile phone in history has even been proven to have caused a gas station fire.
People just have to google "snopes mobile phone gas" or "Facts About Cell Phones and Fires at Gas Stations" ... and you will see what I mean about an urban legend gone wrong!
