This video shows the procedure for the safe removal of a motorcyclist's helmet following a collision.
This video cannot replace full tuition on this procedure but is a good revision tool.
Medic Skills accepts no responsibility for harm that may be caused to an individual should an untrained rescuer attempt to use this procedure.
Aren't you supposed to see if the bike's okay first?

Hi Matt the one you was taught is completely appropriate in motorsport due to the hump in race leathers as placing the head on the ground would cause hyperextension of the neck. In the vast majority of domestic motorcyclists returning the head to the ground will help to achieve neutral alignment for the patient and better airway control. Thanks fir the comment, hope this helps :-)

slightly different to the technique I was taught with the motorsports association, we were taught to rock helmet more to prevent too much pulling and then to place the back of the head onto something to replace where the helmet had been to avoid moving the neck too much and causing further injury. there are always differing views on different techniques and although this one looks good I personally would prefer the one that I was taught.
