The Volvo Hybrid bus is a parallel hybrid, where a smaller diesel engine and an electric engine can be operated independently or jointly. The electric engine operates on a battery that is charged by recycling the brake energy. It runs very short time only on the electric engine, but continues to supply work when the diesel engine is started, and supply the bus with power. Two downsides about the Volvo Hybrid is that the savings are depending on how the driving is, driving! And that proves to be the real challenge, now that the price on the bus is 35-40 % higher than a normal diesel bus.
Very nice videos eh.. were are you getting these buses? your collection?

@lasconiamichael: Hehe, no I don't have a new Volvo B5L in my collection.. I just borrow the buses for a video recording, and for a test drive of course.. I can do that because I am on good terms with people in the bus companies, long time friends and business partners.
