  • Hamelin is better than Cziffra ._.

  • amen brotha. there are various reasons for this, the big ones being repertoire size and technique.

  • this is a different arrangement, i am pretty sure, whose transcription is this?

  • how come frm 8:00 - 8:15 that part, my left hand has different notes? is it a different version? :)

Haha , well I know who you are , and I don't plan on arguing with you.

I don't mean to bash Hameline , because he is a very good pianist, but, Hameline , is not better than Cziffra, and if I have a rock and a carving tool , I would carve it out in stone.

But this all goes down , to a matter of opinion and how everyone excepts music, but, like the poster and the commenter, what they said, was pretty stupid.

  • @ClassicMusicOnly I was going to start another argument when I realized who you were. :P

You do assert "Cziffra beats Hamelin by a mile when it comes to depth and feeling". Depth and feeling are all personally relevant. I do agree 100% on his cadenza but, once again, his interpretation of Liszt is my favorite in that particular song. I just have Hamelin's kind of personality, musical thought/preference, etc. so I see his as appealing.

I don't want to sound like a Cziffra freak , but I just want to point out that you seem to be taking music the wrong way. Cziffra's technique was always great , but its not about technique and repertoire size , its about how its played , whats the emotion. And , Cziffra beats Hamelin by a mile when it comes to depth and feeling. I mean just look at Hamelin's Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2. Thats not music.. thats just horrible. Its just a technical show off.

  • he's way better than that clown lang lang

  • 7:02. Jesus, I'd thought I played that passage fast. Hamelin's technique is nimble and leonine, supreme.

  • I think Hamelin's sincere love for this piece really shines through. It is controlled but explosive, technically immaculate but really showing the many inner moods of this piece. I am studying this myself right now and listening to Hamelin's interpretation is immensely helpful.

  • i dont think its boring at all to watch Hamelin especially in the Alkan Concerto the hand movements are entertaining enough
