At the height of its power, the Russian Empire stretched across 15 times zones, incorporated nearly 160 different ethnicities, and made up one sixth of the entire world's landmass. What started as a few small principalities was shaped into an indomitable world power by the sheer force of its leaders. However, building the infrastructure of this empire came at an enormous price. As Russia entered the 20th century, her expansion reached critical mass as her rulers pushed progress at an unsustainable pace and her population reacted in a revolution that changed history. From the Moscow Kremlin, to the building of St. Petersburg, examine the architecture and infrastructure that enabled the rise and fall of the Russian Empire.

  • @Alucardthedeadone Would say in part because with the fall of Constantinople, and since other Orthodox were in more dangerous position for conquest by Islam faith, Russia made itself one of the center of the Christian Orthodox faith, thus the inneritor of Constantinople, thus of the Roman. =p

  • As much as I like to see an honest western attempt to tell Russian history, as a Russian historian and well, just Russian, I sorry to say this, but this documentary is almost 99% inaccurate in every was possible.

  • @olegsokolov It is a shame what the Jewish bolsheviks did to Russia. Russia provided the real balance-of-power in the world until Nicholas II became Tsar.

  • @Vlajko1312 hey , so erm where can i ''watch'' an accurate one?(other than reading book)

  • God why did you treat Russia that way! Fucking Soviets!!! We should have been as developed and happy as the rest of the civilized world by now!!! And that fucking prick Lenin ruined it all, what a bastard, only for him alone should hell exist

  • @YojimboAuron you shouldve said a soviet historian arent you? there was no greatness of russia before the soviets i bet you say

  • Glory Glory to Glorious Russia

  • @YojimboAuron Well, if the western historians have it wrong, why not create your own narration setting the story straight. I'd love to see, or read it. History is a passion with me, and hearing it from various sources usually gives you more of the whole story.

  • @YojimboAuron Have you ever considered producing your own Russian historical documentary (or narrative) for western audiences?

  • Is anybody else wondering how did Alex Murphy get out of the suit?

  • I feel the need to warn anyone really interested in Russian history to avoid watching this program. Although i sympathize with this attempt to bring rich Russian history closer to a western viewer, this program is full of inaccuracies and crude simplifications. I could think of ten ways that would introduce Russia and its monuments far better in 50min. then what is shown here.

Nonetheless i thank the poster for his effort.

  • @azrilrazlan because RUSSIA IS MORE BADARSE THAN TURKEY.
