Radio in general is a pretty cutthroat business.
Yes, Imus fucked with Stern, and Stern fucked with O&A. But don't think for a second that O&A are innocent. They're just as shady as their predecessors towards younger talent, and have tried to disrupt other people's careers as well.
I like both O&A and Stern, but they are all hypocrites when it comes to the business side of radio. They all claim to be victims..
