@eyecandycrystaletsy it definitely was not for me. There were no videos for me to refer, so luckily to get to learn sizing at that time, big oversized hats were in!:)

Glad to help. As for the hat, i didn't make a pattern and I haven't made it in a year.
But you can make the circle increase until 10 inches then start decreasing each row until reach size of head.. Hopes that helps.

Sorry for my late response.
1. If you are following directions, usually you take away 2 to 3 stitches from the number of stitches given.
2. If you already made the hat and it's too big (happens a lot) then take out the last few rows of your hat you, then decrease (stitch 2 single stitches together) more stitches. Ex. if decreasing last row every 4th stitch decrease is too big then I usually go to every 3rd stitch decrease.
3. And one less row at the beginning of your circle works.
