  • 40 years ago it was simply called mud. I never heard it call jt compound until home depot spawned. of course back then it was more akin to mud than now. Now is really is jt compound with the additives. i like it better now except they have seemed to not have figured out how to keep it from drying out so fast in dry arid climate like here in AZ
