Total Solar Eclipse 1999

The eclipse of 1999 was my first total solar eclipse. Unfortunately the sky was overcast during totality. Nevertheless it was impressive and we had fun. We observed the eclipse near Metz in France.

I observed this eclipse in Bühl (Baden), Germany. To me it looked like that this was going to be a non-event, due to the overcast sky. But about 15 minutes before the totality, the sky opened up, just where the sun happened to be! I was fortunate enough to see the entire total phase of the eclipse. I will never forget how the sunlight turned to a pinkish gold colour minutes before the totality, and the eerie feeling everybody had. Thanks for uploading the video!
