This video shows my mare Xena (registered name Banbury Damascada) being jumped when she was 4 1/2 months in foal with her last (huge) foal Gaius. A week before she was basculing much more and more energetic but being pregnant finally started to have an effect right when my husband was available to video! The jump is the "Stacker with Stand" which goes to 3'6" in 3" increments alternating sides. The highest she jumps in this video is 3'3". The very top is 3'6". Xena is a 14 year old registered purebred Andalusian mare. She is 15 hands and roughly 900 lbs. As you can see she can easily carry an adult male. She is a very experienced trail horse, has had some dressage and jumping training, has foxhunted, done ranch sorting, camped out on an overnight trail ride, and won her only gymkhana. She loves to run and do games. She is beautiful, smart and very sweet--she adores attention. Xena is a proven broodmare with two beautiful foals even though most of her life she's been my riding horse. Her daughter is my dream horse and her huge son (15.3 at 2 1/2) is meant to be my husband's next horse. Xena is too wonderful a horse to serve primarily as a pasture ornament and I can no longer give her the time she deserves. So I've decided that when the right person comes along I'll stop being a dog in the manger and let my girl go somewhere she can have adventures with a new person. She will happily carry you on riding adventures with energy or grow you a beautiful foal. Easy to handle on the ground, smooth as silk under saddle with a big jump and a powerful canter, Xena even knows how to smile and mount a pedestal and is learning to bow.
