So if you burn a banana the fire will turn purple?

Tried some flame tests on KCl n something I thought was KCO3. My problem is : the salts always tend to ``explode``. Not a real explosion, but it does PAK!! PAK!!! n then it goes everywhere except on the flamme. So its very difficult to have the flamme test. Any advices???

@BCSpore ohhh lol i just felt like being stupid and saying it like that but i really didnt know it was an alkali metal thanks for informing me with out the sarcasm and hate comments i appreciate it

@TheWrongsystem At least smellslikevanilla33 knew that potassium is a metal, but you're calling it a vitamin. You dumb shit its listed as a vitamin because it reacts with anions to form a salt. But in elemental form, its an alkali, so get off youtube.

In solid form, Potassium is an alkali metal element that is very reactive. A salt is a chemical of two components created upon the reaction between an acid and an alkali, and thus, potassium is more commonly found as a salt such as Potassium Chloride, which when burned, gives off a violet flame. Potassium is part of the chemicals that are inside needed foods, but in very small amounts.
