Memorable finish to rare and highly anticipated regular season #1 vs. #2 meeting, on September 26, 1981 in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. #1 USC benefited from 10 Oklahoma fumbles, 5 lost, to overcome a 24-14 deficit in the final 8 minutes and win, 28-24. Famous game, although neither team lived up to the ranking as the season progressed. Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles on the commentary.

  • Did you record the Miami-Texas game that followed this one? I remember watching that one as a kid.

  • @bornahorn

No, I don't have that Miami/Texas game. Unfortunately I don't have any tapes from the Jim Kelly era. I thought I did but I can't find any.

My dad taped this game and used the slow 2 hour VCR setting. The tape actually ended before the game did and he had to wait for the tape to rewind before resuming. Consequently I don't have a portion of USC's winning drive, and the beginning of the game was taped over.

  • This was the best football game I have ever seen in my entire life !

  • I uploaded highlights of all four quarters

  • This was the first college/SC game I ever saw live. Oh what a game it was! It was overwhelming, - #1 ranked USC vs. #2 ranked Oklahoma. The Sooners brought their entire band to LA, with thousands of fans to support them. It was so amazing. I was entrhalled with SC football, and it seemed the Trojans were aiming at another national title, and got their 4th Heisman Trophy with Marcus Allen. It was still kind of magical for SC then. That didn't return for over 20 years, but it's back baby!

  • We'll be seeing plenty of this when the Sooners come to the Pac-12.

  • @greymoose1000 The Sooners will always be out Bitches!

  • And in the following year, we played these same Sooners in Norman, and SHUT THEM OUT 12-0.

  • Always love watching OU lose again to the Trojans!!!

  • just nail biting

  • It was a bit ironic that USC won the game on a touchdown pass, considering they were well known in this era for their running game.

  • no Sooner magic this day
