Finding JV Partners To Help You Build Your Email List

A highly effective way of building your email list is to partner with other marketers who have a list of their own. Working together, you can help one another grow your lists along with various other things. But what's the most effective way to find those potential JV partners?

The first people a lot of marketers think of when they go looking for JV partners are the "big names" in their niche. In other words, the marketers with high profiles in the niche.

While those people probably have big lists and would be highly desirable JV partners, it's unlikely that they're going to work with you when you're just getting started. They're going to want to partner with people who can give them as much leverage as they can provide.

When you're starting out, you'll probably be a lot more successful by approaching smaller marketers who are actively building their own lists.

Look for marketers who are a step or two up from where you are currently. Let's say you've got around 250 people on your list - you might want to look for people with roughly double that to partner with. Think in terms of the next step in your growth, not where you want to ultimately be.

What's the best place to find these potential JV partners? You can look in a number of places:

- Market-related forums
- Paydotcom, Clickbank and other similar marketplaces
- Search engines
- Email lists that you subscribe to

Forums make excellent resources because they allow you to interact with people before approaching them as potential partners. If you're an active member of the community, they'll get to "know" you and will be a lot more likely to agree to a JV deal.

Clickbank, Paydotcom and other such networks are also good resources. Search for products that are related to your niche and identify marketers who are actively building email lists. If they're already building a list they might be interested in partnering up with you.

While you won't get as targeted a list of potential partners by searching Google, you can still find plenty of other sites in your market that might be worth pursuing. You should also keep an eye on the paid ads to find other marketers who are selling products related to your niche.

Lastly, consider the lists that you're subscribed to in your market. All those marketers are potential JV partners as well. Again, don't approach the biggest marketers right away - look for smaller marketers who are anxious to grow their list.
