What a joke Reagan was and in so many ways - did he just once, in his discredited presidency, submit to Congress a national budget that did NOT reflect a huge deficit? He was always so quick to deny and blame !

The answer is no. But you must also remember that his budget proposals were for less spending than the democrats wanted, and that they were declared by the democrat leadership "dead on arrival." So what good would it have done to send them an even more unrealistic budget?

@plunderpunk2 I've read in various publications that he was referring to the Contras. I've never sought the primary source. Maybe he said the same thing about the Muj. It wouldn't redeem him much for me, though. He loved the Contras, and continued to support them, even when doing so was illegal, and even though the Contras committed over 90% of the human rights violations (castrations, gang rapes, decapitations) in Nicaragua.
