Not quite, EA signed an exclusive deal with the NFL for licensing rights. That's why 2K stopped making any football game for awhile. They made one recently, with historic NFL players, it wasn't very good.
I don't know about any MLB deals, but both 2K and EA make licensed MLB games.

If you read above I say 2K makes better Basketball, but other then that their sports franchises suck. 2K has good basketball, EA has good street basketball.
