  • @racecream

    Cost reduced....4999 USD.....Recession :-)

  • @maciejwrotek About $10,000

  • It’s not just a 3D PCB viewer – Altium had that years ago. Unlike basic ‘dumb’ viewers in PADs and Eagle, Altium actually has a 3D PCB editing environment. You can navigate and manipulate the board design in 3D in real time. You can also bring 3D models and assemblies (like a case design) into the 3D editor, then fit it to the PCB assembly where a built in collision detection system will highlighting any space violations. It’s all in the Altium website and Wiki.

  • @lasersafe what is this software ?

  • I wish the Altium team could make the 3D images as good as Eagle3D images - they looks stunning, very real!! OR at least make an option to export to POVRAY. Good effort anyway...

  • This nothing special PADS has this same exact useless feature. Altium sucks.

  • It's cool unless you know that Linux open source PCB software has already been doing this for years. Nice job of copying the open source code.

  • The Awesomeness of this video is only surpassed by its higher quality / less compressed / HD version...

  • Altium maybe be a bit overkill, but if you want it, its there. :)

  • Maybe overkill in some instances and not for everyone, but I do several designs a year where I use the 3D features of Altium for everything. As you suggest, it is great for space constrained applications. It has saved us from many mechanical headaches in this regard. I love this feature. Altium is a general purpose ECAD tool and many people will get great use out of this feature. Also, people love getting near photo-realistic renderings of the PCB assembly. I hear that a lot fro clients.
