only one other soprano could have ever done as well as Dame Joan on this, and that would be the equally fabulous Beverly Sills ! Both of whom are giving the angels singing lessons now, to which God is saying "well done ladies!"

Yes, it was quite low for Dame Joan, but she could get down there.

@asdfopera This is from the "Who's Afraid of Opera" series which Sutherland taped in 1972 and 1973. This particular section was taped on April 16th 1972 where Sutherland was 45. But I do agree that her singing is miraculous. Those trills are very, very beautiful :)

Love the vocalism.. I am not too convinced that she is the character of Marie.. but.. she sings well.
