An event occurs, our standard of living is reduced. We can no longer stand without aid, our legs are now gone.

Such things we can mourn, but in the shallow depths of self pity we must ask ourselves: What the fuck are you going to do about it?

You cannot suddenly change your idea of living readily, as life is random. The aspect you can control however is the ability to accept your situation.
After acceptance, you can grow beyond
such things. Two wheels and a steel seat make a prison not

She has no choice in the situation Knives. WTF. Her choices make for temporary solutions. I do understand your point, but it does not apply to all situations. Sometimes your quality of life is in direct proportion to what you're forced to live with.

No! Knives is right. Even if the worse comes, you can choose your quality of life because happiness comes from inside the mind and you can control what thoughts you allow to dwell in your mind. The exception being if you are in constant intolerable pain.

There are many more exceptions than that. No offense.

Yeah, happiness comes from inside your mind. That's some hippie bullshit right there. We are a product of causalities and we don't make our minds do shit. You can push it to a point, there are limits to human tolerance.

this quote can be applied to anything. It's a fucking hallmark card. And to apply it to Keli? What the fuck. Someones losing their limbs and you guys say, see i was right.

Happiness doesn't come from inside the mind. Waking up knowing you can walk sure fucking helps though.

dude...Not feeling sorry for yourself is easier for someone to say to do, that doesn't have to choose between their spinal issues, or legs. Also both situations will land her paralyzed. She's not WILLING to live that way, she has to. And it's fucked up.

She also said it because it was relevant.

The comfort ability your willing to live with.

I am truly heartbroken with the operation and situation she's in ( I thought it was a guy and would not have been nasty about it, sorry kelliko. I'm the fucknutts here.)

But the fact is there is still a choice on how she's going to live, she could choose to be a grumpy cripple which everyone hates, or choose to rise above her condition and live a better quality life than most able bodied people.

The phrase holds no matter your situation in life.
