In 1978 Budgie guitarist Tony left the Burj. (He returned to Cardiff and organized a group of Tredegar, in which sat behind the drums by his old partner Budgie, Ray Phillips). First Burj replaced Robert Kendrick (ex-Trapeze), and then at the end of 1979 there was "Big" John Thomas ("Big" John Thomas), a guitarist and singer of the American hardovoy of George Hatcher, two years earlier to move to live in Britain. The contract with record label A & M was canceled, and the group moved to the label Active (Branch RCA), which recorded two albums - Power Supply and Nightflight. In 1982 a contract was signed, and with the RCA ... The new "Heavy revolution" of early 80-ies (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) could not affect that group: many of the new teen idols have referred to them as a source of influence and inspiration that spurred a surge of attention to both old and the new work group. Cube, which owned the rights to their early recordings, published in 1981, his version of The Best Of Budgie; and the album Nightflight was greeted with enthusiasm and the audience, and the press, and the appearance on the stage next Budgie Festival Reading Festival in 1982 as headliners (headliners ) was in recognition of their merits audience. Unfortunately, after that the band's career began to diminish.
