@FoxRunMan Yea man, I just read that. I heard this in dirty dancing too but I have to admit I did not know who she was. Now I do! Thanks man.

Excellent quality! Thanks! :)

Just read about how Lou Reed was a Mickey and Silvia fan and how their guitar tone definitely influenced the one by The Velvets. And how, in the end, everything comes to Chuck Berry.

Nice Turntable, and a great song too. ~ Thanks for post

No less than the great JMH was influenced and inspired by the guitar stylings provided by this duo, especially the talking guitar sound and the quirky funk rhythms. Sylvia was no chick just bangin' the tambourine on her hip (not that there's anything wrong with that). She was a presence in her own right with a great business sense and an eye for talent. Ancestor of hip hop who was an owner of Sugar Hill Records. Deserves much credit in sexist/racist environment for her accomplishments.

Saw M&S in the Fall, 1957 at the Chicago Civic Opera house. Billed as a "rock & Roll Show" by impresario and Chicago DJ, Marty Faye. We had balcony seats, but less than 100 people showed up, so we sat in the front row. The whole show was lip sync to the records, but it was terrific nevertheless. We all fell in love with Sylvia.
