Before Nick Cave had his 'Bad Seeds', he had the 'Cavemen', before that 'The Birthday Party' and before that 'The Boys Next Door'. This track is from their first album and shows glimses of ths chaotic genius that was to morph into 'The Birthday Party' after their move from Melbourne to London. Mick Harvey was in the original line-up and only left in 2009, Roland S.Howard and Nick parted ways after the BP exploded, never to be reunited, (he died earlier this year) Also interesting in these pics is to see Tracey Pew without his cowboy outfit and 'gay' moustache. I'm uploading this cos' the only other upload has lousy sound!

  • I like this because it is very nasty. And the way I am feeling at the moment which is both despondent and destructive really suits my frame of mind. I could certainly destroys one man's face at the moment.

  • @Johnnystrychnine You need to listen to some stuff by the Birthday Party then (The band this one became) They are 10 times more nasty......'Mutiny!' and 'Drunk On The Popes Blood' are 2 of the nastiest things ever recorded.......and absolutely bloody wonderful!

  • and the guitar terror in this song could raise the dead...

  • having said the above and below, it is a great song to butcher someone you hate...

  • Best guitar solo in history

  • ...call me a hippy or pacifist but I am peaceable now considering my up bringing and it was not a nice one. I am not from middle class suburbia of Australia. Nor am I a WASP. Mutiny is sound scape music highly influenced by the insanity of influences of drugs. Listen to the bass, that is a main motif too on Your Funeral my trial. I am a former educated muso. And no, I don't really like the TBP. And when I said in my comment "I want to destroy a man's face'', I said it because I had a Fucked day.

  • ...thus allowing the strings to develop an open sound scape thereby creating a terror of feed back by RS Howard. In simpler terms, TBP, were simply experimenters with musical instuments influenced by predecessors and there were many. Avant gard, John Cage, Velvets, Pop Group, Pistols, 60s Psycho Billy. One thing I don't condone is violence, and as middle class boys hailing from Melbourne Uni, there is nothing more stupid to advocate than violence, and they did that through their music...cont

  • @steveobie1 I never really got in to the BP, even though I was exposed to their music later, I was simply too young to know they existed, but I don't think I missed much even if I were too young then. I bought the Mutiny EP back in 1984 I think. The Foundations of TBP are based on the 60's avant garde, the basso continuo featured strongly (Continuous bass) in their music. Listen for the bass in a lot of their songs and you will find the metrical structure of the bass features prominently...cont

  • That's right the other one does have lousy sound. Thanks for the superior
