  • Please get away from the plastic bottles. Wal-mart sells stainless steel bottles all day long that would be a better bet for heating water. Glad you are having fun. Be safe and thanks for posting!

  • @woodsinme I saw a survial show where they boiled water in plastic bottles. As you know we Hobos might come across a ton of plastic bottles in our travels, but not walmart stainless steel bottles.....hense the video and testing of plastic, thanks for the comments

  • @brawny03 is there any gold in jasper or tacooa georgia????

  • @cred1616 Wish I knew! The easy stuff is no doubt in someone's pocket already. Just have to keep digging, I guess. Welcome to Gold Rush Georgia, mountain style :D

  • I can see how the plastic that actually touches the water wouldn't melt over the fire--just like the paper cup won't burn when you boil water in it--but what about the rim above the water? Doesn't it get a bit soft and oozy?

  • @djbarryiii The plastic above the water level never got sticky. The whole bottle and "stew" pot gradually deformed a little. Weirdly enough, the containers didnt get sooty. I handled them to use the hot water and my hands didnt get dirty. I thought the plastic cordage would melt, but it didn't. I think that by keeping the flames just at the bottle of the vessels a balance of heat was achieved...enough to heat without damage.
