  • Credit Default Swaps must be obliterated, the 5 zombie banks must be allowed to fail. Let the government issue the credit to the people and companies. Nationalize and audit the Fed.

  • a theif with a nice rug... his hair is two different shades of brown!

  • Geithner is a THIEF!

If the 1st bailout didn't work, why do a 2nd one? Do you know how many toxic derivatives we have to secure? so the banks keep demanding more money. And they're blowing it. Nobody bothered to change management, no CEO's stepped down... talent doesn't bankrupt a company.

$3 trillion dollars and 6 months later the banks won't lend. QUANTITATIVE EASING IS TOO EXPENSIVE, INEFFICIENT and THEFT!!

  • You are just too funny. You live in a black and white only world, there is a grey area. Hell, there's colored areas. Government, the cause of this mess is definitely not the answer. Live in 3D man, live in 3D.

  • You seem very optimistic about spending more to cure the over spending. Strong fiscal policy!!! I judge his 4 weeks through the corrupt administration, the terrible spending PACKAGES(plural), his airstrikes in Pakistan and his surge in Afghanistan. Tell me something different between him and GWB.

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Thomas Jefferson.

  • Since the bill was not signed into law until today Congress could have used the weekend to allow for some public review before passing it as you rightly noted that they were going to do. My desire to see all the details of a $787 BILLION plan should not be misinterpreted as me being for the TARP nonsense passed last fall. I don't have a double standard. They were BOTH equally non-transparent. If you are so trusting of big government can you please pay my share of taxes needed to support it?

  • And I think because of how fast this is economy is receeding, it would not be smart to wait until 300,000,000 americans read this bill before passing it. But again it shows the standard you have for this administration vs. the last. No americans read the bill when they released the first half of $700 billion to the banks to trick off. We quickly forget that that was taxpayer dollars also!! Once the website is up and we know how the money is being spent I would say that is true transparency.

  • I agree that unless the bill was dramatically altered in committee, votes were not likely to change. I also agree it is the duty of every Senator and Representative to read the bill. My only complaint was that I felt that average citizens should have had time to read the final bill since the funds to pay for this program ultimately are going to come out of their pocket. This would have allowed anyone concerned to voice their opinions to their Congressmen. That would be true transparency.

  • If my boss gave me a packet and said, you have a week to read this and vote on it by Friday...and that's MY JOB...then it would be ample time. Ain't like they got shyt else to do right now...everyone is waiting for this stimulus package. No states or cities are spending, american's aren't spending, people aren't working...that's your job as my congress person!!!

  • For what I'm hearing from Republican's on the reasons they aren't voting for it...it wouldn't matter what was in the bill. Anything other than tax breaks to them is a waste of spending...when that is the point of the stimulus. Tax cuts and deregulation doesn't cure everything...see 2000-2008. Invisible would mean they didn't get the bill...knowing how many pages it is lets me know they did receive it. They've been back and forth for a month on this, that's plenty time sounds like to me.
