Thank you so much. I'm a US citizen living abroad who wanted so much to be there, but couldn't. The most meaningful election of my life, and it is well nigh time! Thanks for posting Seeger and Springsteen--inspirational.

This song should truly be America's National Anthem. It's a hell of a whole lot deeper than the one we have now.

We where here that weekend for our 8th grade trip to dc.. we didnt get real close to thefront of the croud here, but some of the guys from our class (including me) got an amazing pic with some troops by the memorial. Its my pages backround if anyone wants to take a look..

I have always loved this song.
and when pete seeger - mccathy victime, orginal freedom rider - came on to sing it at the inauguration it just blew me away
As I watched on tv i wondered what it would have been like top actually be there.
Now i know - fab, My favorite "Obama moment" - and now from the angle of the people!

What's amazing about this performance is that Pete Seeger got away with singing the 3 banned verses of this song including this last one, a direct indictment of capitalism. I guess HBO cut him off... but UTube proves he actually did sing them.
