Cannanites from Tyre(Tsor) and Sidon (Tsidon) founded Carthage. The Carthagian Empire spanned all of North Africa and even captured Spain. During the Punic Wars, the Romans and Carthagians fought for supremacy. The Romans gained the upperhand and the Carthagians were dispersed throughout North Africa. There were Phutite and Mistrite Tribes among the Carthagians (Cannanites). They were later converted to Islam by the Arabs and became know as your Moors or Berbers. The Moors were driven out of Spain in the reconquista. They along with the Arabs then turned their eyes towards the Saharan trade routes and the "People of the Book" living in great numbers below the Sahara. The Fulanis were a major force in the spread of Islam to West Africa with their jihads. The Fulanis are Putities (Phutites) and have prefixed their name to every region they inhabit such as: Futa Jallon, Futa Tooro, and so on. When historians talk about black people selling black people into slavery this is what they are talking about. There is even a famous story "A Prince Among Slaves" which tells the story of a Phutite slave trader being captured, sold into slavery, then latter being release because he was a Phutite and not an Yisra'elite. In the book of Yo'el (Joel) 3:1-8 it tells how the inhabitants of Tsor, who founded Carthage, would enslave the Yisraelites and sell them to the sons of Yawan: Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain or (P.I.G.S). The entire slave trade is recorded in detail in Scripture: Pslams 83:1-8, Joel 3:1-8, Deuteronomy 28.
