...sadly even borderline breakthrough bands like MGMT & Arcade Fire, like Billy said, get sucked down in the depths of the indie underworld, exclusive to maybe 10-20,000 twentysomethings that can't even make it through a whole album. If not your local, pretentious indie scene, it's your douchebag bro-rock scene. "Both bullshit options." After playing in a few bands already, this shit speaks directly to my heart, ESPECIALLY as an albums enthusiast. I agree with a lot of what Billy is saying. I think that the death of broadcast radio destroyed the integrity of the old music industry model. I think the solution would be free satelite radio with commericals. If a large record company purchased a company like Sirius and then made it a free medium you could then pair it down to a smaller station selection. Then instead of state wide playlist they could offer national playlists.
