Cole Stiegler, age 18, performs Arthur Pryor's classic trombone solo, accompanied by Sonja Savre (Cole's mom). He daringly goes for the upper octave for his last of many performances -- and almost makes it. Look for Cole playing this a bit more conservatively also on YouTube. 5/8/2008 Armstrong High School, Plymouth, MN
I am playing this solo at a way slower pace than he did. I am not that skilled at all. And he did from memory!

Yea I had one of those CL mouthpieces. It was a pain in the rear...Replaced it with Dennis wick mouthpiece. Ah the amazing difference... Anyways, Pretty good solo. Articulation needs a bit of work though. Keep it up!

@jbone72 Jesus-he's only 18! Not a bad start; if he keeps at it, he'll do fine. I've been a professional player for 40 years, and wasn't as proficient as this young man when I was 18. Give him time, give him time.

More people have watched this kid play Annie Laurie than Brett Baker, I respect that.

@ajans01amjans I've enjoyed the many comments made from SIX continents on my son's performance from THREE YEARS ago when he was 17. You trombonists are a unique breed. (As a sax player, I'll never understand.) I am amused at the detailed, usually well-intended, critique from many listeners. Some lose track of the fact this is just a 17 year old playing with his HS band. He is now in college, and, yes, got rid of the Christian Lindberg mouthpiece long ago. Thanks for your comments.
