Well I've wanted to do this for awhile just now I finally got around to it. Basically I heard this song (Gackt's Returner Yami no Shyuen) and what it's about and instantly thought of the Last Samurai, so naturally I just had to make this, though usually I don't make MVs with Japanese music for the reasons stated I just couldn't pass it up.

English Lyrics:

As the moon, afraid of loneliness, holds onto the sky
I cried out, searching for you, who I couldn't see through my tears

The me reflected in your eyes was laughing
It was before I wasn't able to see your smile again

I continue to cry out in the darkness, I can see you
You're too far away...

Hold me so tightly that I'll break
If I could only see you once again, even in my dreams
Please give me eternal sleep

Hold me so tightly that I'll break
I awaken from my dreams, and it disappears
Your voice, and your smile that I love too much

I'll see you once again, because I promised that I would
Cover me gently in a love that overflows
Please give me eternal sleep

I can't see you...

Japanese Lyrics:

kodoku ni obieta tsuki wa sora wo dakishime nagara
namida de mienai anata wo sagashite sakenda

anata no hitomi ni utsuru watashi wa waratte ita
mou nido to aenu hohoemi wo mae ni

kurayami de sakebi tsuzukeru anata ga mieru
toosugite...

kowareru hodo watashi wo tsuyoku dakishimete
mou ichido aeru nara yume no naka de ii
eie no nemuri wo kudasai

kowareru hodo watashi wo tsuyoku dakishimete
yume kara samete wa kieru
anata no egao mo ai shi sugiru sono koe mo

mou ichido aeru kara yakusoku shita kara
afureru hodo no ai de yasashiku tsutsunde
eien no nemuri wo kudasai

anata ga mienai...

  • Very nice, "The Last Samurai" is a very good movie. And this music-video is nice. 5*

  • @mysterykid157 If that's how you feel, then I think you missed a good portion of the story. Even if it wasn't Tom Cruise, but another white actor, it would still hold the same meaning. If it were a Japanese man instead, it would have defeated the entire purpose. It is supposed to be a tale of destiny, self-discovery, and the understanding of a dying culture. A western man who is caught in a completely alien culture opens his eyes and give his heart to these ancient traditions. That is the point.

  • @vhhsairsoft also, it wouldnt have worked with a japanese man in tom's place, the whole storys point is that its an american soldier becoming disillusioned with his own people and how theyve behaved towards foreigners. so you're quite right, and everyone else should just shut up and enjoy the film :p if not, they know what they can do lol

  • Wow... am i impressed, i couldn't imagine a better song to go with this, nor a film to go with this song. Beautifully made, everything is perfect - i got very emotional watching this :) <3

  • great movie. but unfortunately you ruined it by adding music. thumbs down

  • Isn't it way cool how hard rock just goes with medieval combat? Noticed it first when I heard CCR's "Up Around the Bend" back when I was reading Rosemary Sutcliffe's novel about King Arthur, Sword at Sunset.
