You are the human here, the alpha in this household (presumably). It is up to you to set and enforce boundaries and that poor bird keeps looking for you to. This was dangerous. For both animals. If you want them to be friends, this is NOT the way to go about it! You needed to enforce a consequence for the kitty to make him stop swatting.

We have a cockatoo, and I volunteer at a rescue, and this is not a good thing at all, you should not allow either the bird or the cat to act in a dominating way, death will result from one or both of your pets if it hasnt already... You probably did not think about it when you let it happen, but for future reference, please respect the animals and do not allow this to happen.

While this is cute, just thought you should know that kitty saliva and claws carry a bacteria that is potentially fatal to birdies, even if only a minor scratch or bite occurs. Cute pets =)
