I did this mixture of the gospel classic "Peace In the Valley", From the studio version from Elvis and I took the part of Johnny from the 1969 album At San Quentin. Hope you like it.

Oh well, I'm tired and so weary
But I must go alone
Till the lord comes and calls, calls me away, oh yes
Well the morning's so bright
And the lamp is alight
And the night, night is as black as the sea, oh yes

There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

Well the bear will be gentle
And the wolves will be tame
And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes
And the beasts from the wild
Shall be lit by a child
And I'll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes

There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

  • In reading so many heart felt comments, i felt Elvis ask me to write this; r you going to church yourself + faithfully loving Jesus? Elvis wanted me to just simply ask. He's feeling responsible for so many caught-up in his salvation worrying you'll all overlook your own judgement Day and truly wished that all of you'd be saved/accepted just as God' wishes, will you all just get started today! Will you?

  • R.I.P ELVIS :(

  • This was great becauses it had the truth of the Bible in it as taken from the Prophet Isiah. I think its Chapter 65. So it matters not if it's Elvis or Johnny but still bboth are great.

  • Glad I found this, very nice. Elvis'' voice was the most versatile voice ever. However, Johnny, was great at the songs he chose to sing. It's a matter of preference which version one likes. I personally prefer Elvis. Johnny has a monotone voice is some songs where Elvis scales his, depending on the song. He introduced June Carter to Johnny Cash when he was travelling with the Carter sisters and mother Maybelle. Kinda cute and nice.

  • @darks05 but you have to agree that in the beginning, Elvis was all about the music, he just became blind by the money

  • @darks05 Only in your not so humble opinion...I have to disagree - both sing from the soul

  • @darks05 Only in your not so humble opinion....have to disagree

  • @darks05 Only in your not so humble opinion?....have to disagree!

  • the difference between elvis and cash was cash put heart and soul into the songs, elvis sung what he was told to sing and anything he wrote/wanted to record was beaten down, simply put elivs was about the money JR about the music

  • Elvis' version is truly spiritual, deep. It has the gravitas of the words. Listen to the words. It is a great, great gospel classic by the Rev Thomas Dorsey. I think it was written at the outbreak of war in 1939. The message has never been more relevant. It doesn't really matter who did the best version, so long as the words are delivered with sincerity. Cut either Elvis or Johnny Cash down the middle and they will ring true. My favourite singer is Elvis, but I love Johnny Cash too.
